About the project

“Blessed Silesian – concerts in memory of Blessed Fr. Jan Macha” is a historical and cultural project that we delivered in 2022 as a series of four concerts in Rybnik and Rybnik County. Our goal was to combine the artistic layer with remembrance of Fr. Jan Macha and to tell the story of local heritage in a way that felt close to residents.

The programme was intergenerational and took place in church spaces, which created a focused, community atmosphere. In parallel, we ran information and promotional activities so that people who could not attend the in-person concerts could also engage with the project’s content.

Process

We began preparations by building the project team and dividing roles: content coordination, technical support, photo/video documentation, and event logistics. During the planning stage, we refined the concerts’ narrative, artistic setting, and the promotion schedule.

The concerts took place in four locations: the Basilica of St. Anthony in Rybnik, the Church of St. Hedwig of Silesia in Rybnik, the Church of St. Anne in Świerklany, and the Church of St. Brother Albert in Kamień. Each event was coordinated on site by the delivery team, and after each concert we prepared a working report and introduced organisational adjustments.

In the final phase, we evaluated the indicators, closed the documentation, and launched post-promotion: live coverage, video materials, and publications on our own channels and through media patrons.

Impact

What changed thanks to the project

We completed the project with full delivery of all key indicators, and some results exceeded the targets. The biggest difference concerned attendance: 746 people took part in the in-person events versus a planned 400, which translated into a clearly greater social reach than expected.

We delivered 4 concerts, engaged 10 volunteers, 4 artists and experts, and 5 partners (planned: 4). As a result, the project had not only an event dimension but also a lasting organisational effect: a strengthened cooperation network and readiness for future editions.

On the qualitative side, the most important outcome was strengthening local identity and interest in the region’s history. Participants received a message combining culture, historical memory, and responsibility for heritage, while the online materials extended the project’s life after the concerts ended.
