About the project
The project, implemented under the call “Activating young people in local governments in the Silesian and Lesser Poland voivodeships,” focused on practically strengthening young people’s civic attitudes. We combined social, educational, and integration activities so that young people could act locally while having a real impact on their surroundings.
At the heart of the project were activities run with young people and for young people: an environmental campaign, city activities, a science festival, a creative contest, and a training-and-integration trip. Everything was carried out with an emphasis on cooperation, responsibility, and building a sense of agency.
Process
We began implementation with information and preparatory activities. We launched the “Eco-heroes” campaign and then carried out a citywide river clean-up of the Ruda River in cooperation with local partners. At the same time, we promoted the project through the channels of the Youth City Council of Rybnik.
The next major stage was a Science Festival for children, combining topics of ecology, artificial intelligence, robotics, and hands-on activities. We then delivered the “Most Creative Themed Day” contest with the participation of educational institutions from Rybnik.
We concluded the project with a two-day training-and-integration trip for youth activists. The program covered leadership skills, project work, communication, and social media, and we finished with an evaluation module.

Impact
What changed thanks to the project
The planned results were achieved, and some indicators exceeded the plan. The number of project beneficiaries was 2,014 against a planned 1,824, and the number of engaged volunteers was 29 against a planned 22.
We delivered all key event outcomes: Creative Day, the Science Festival, and the training-and-integration trip (each indicator 1/1). In addition, promotional activities reached 1,500 recipients, strengthening the project’s visibility and social impact.
On the qualitative side, the project built stronger youth engagement in civic and local-government activities and developed the organizational skills of participants and volunteers. This is a solid foundation for further youth initiatives carried out in cooperation with local institutions.
